John Wayne Biyografisi

True Grit (Hakiki Selamlama) 1969 ile “en iyi erkek oyuncu” Oscar’ını kazandı. Western türünün gelmiş geçmiş en meşhur kahramanı olarak tanınmasına rağmen, ağır ağır çıktığı dorukta her nesil serüven filminde başarılı olmasını ve yıllar boyu yerini korumasını bildi.
John Wayne, 26 Mayıs 1907 tarihinde doğmbert Morrison’dır. Ailesi1911’de Kaliforniya‘nın Glendale şehrine taşındılar. Glendale Lisesi’nde okudu. Futbol bursuyla okuduğu Güney Kaliforniya Üniversitesi’nden ayrılıp film stüdyolarında but işleri yaptı. John Wayne gençliğinde lokal Hollywood film stüdyolarında atları nallayan bir adamın dondurmacı dükkânında da çalışmıştır.

1930′da birincil dramatik rolünü oynadığı The Big Trail (Büyük Sürü) ile sinemayı meslek edindi. Sahne adını da John Wayne yaptı. Yönetmen John Ford ile kurduğu dostluk sonucu bugün klasik olan Stagecoach (Posta Arabası) 1939, filmiyle dikkati çekti. Stüdyodaki dublörler tarafından binicilik ve koyboyluk becerilerini geliştirme çalıştırmaları yaptırıldı.

John Wayne’i bu derece iyi yapan isim hiç gerekli Kovboy filmlerinin yönetmeni John Ford’dur.

John Wayne, üç defa İspanyol asıllı kadınlarla evlendi; Josephine Alicia Saenz, EsperanzaJosephine’den dört çocuğu, Pilar’dan üç çocuğu olmuştur.

Rol aldığı filmlerin 142sinde başroldeydi. John Wayne’e 1964 yılında akciğer kanseri tanısı kondu. Geçirdiği ameliyatta sol akciğerinin tamamı ve iki kaburga kemiği alındı.

John Wayne, 11 Haziran 1979 tarihinde Kaliforniya’da Newport Beach’de 72 yaşında mide kanserinden evinde öldü.
